14. The Cathedral of St. Sampson the Hospitable

41, Bolshoi Sampsoniyevsky Prospekt

The cathedral was built in 1728-1740 on the site of a wooden church put up by Peter the Great in honour of the victory of the Russian troops over the Sweden near Poltava on 27 June 1709.

Services in the cathedral were held until 1938.
