May be you know, may be not, the Ladoga lake is the largest lake in Europe, having an area(surface) of more than 17.000 km2.The Neva river runs out of the Ladoga lake and, after passing through Saint Petersburg, comes into Finland gulf of the Baltic sea. The Northern part of the Ladoga lake has a lot of islands, bays, fjords and gulfs. The Banks are high and rocky there, covered by a picturesque forest of pines and firs. That Ladoga lake region, so called Ladoga skerries, is a real Mekka for tourists, fishers and all those people, who enjoy the wild nature, the forest berries and the mushrooms, prefer absolutely unpolluted air to the city smog. Actually, it is not far from St. Petersburg, about 100 km only to the North. The pictures, which I suggest for you to see, were made just at this place. I hope they will give you some impressions about this small but wonderful corner of Russian West-North - Ladoga lake skerries.
