If you dame to St. Petersburg (or are going to come) and are really
interesting to see russian churches and cathedrals, we are sure, the churches
of Novgorod (about 200km to the South from St. Ptersburg) also should be
seen. Novgorod is very old town, probably, one of the oldest in the Russia.
It existed as early as the A.D. 600's. In the 900's it became an important
city in the Kievan State - the earlest Russian state. Between the 1200's
and 1500's the city was a major financial and commercial center.
The pictures presented here are far from the full collection of Novgorod
churches and monasteries, but we hope you'll feel the spirit and get the
first impression of this beautiful russian sity.
